Class Title: Writing Freely: Gateway to Creativity

Synopsis
In this five-unit coures, you will use writing prompts, exercises, and activities to engage with the issues in your life and find your unique voice. Explore, expand, and vent if you need to. Find hope as the exercises guide you onto new pathways into your creative self. Suitable for a beginner, a writer experiencing writers' block, and any writer who wants to charge her creative juices.
Class Description
Each week I will suggest several activities. You'll be able to list, write, and play with new material and respond with 15 to 1500 words. You'll receive positive feedback and suggestions for the next steps, whether that's honing a particular section, exploring more deeply, or finding the right place to share your work. I will always respond to you; each of you may respond to one another (in our Yahoo group) to positively reinforce the writer's voice. I encourage participants to purchase a copy of my book You Want Me To Do What? ($10.99) It contains over 200 sentence starts, which help people facing writer's block.

Student Skills, Equipment, and Time Required
Students need email and Internet access. Being able to type in Word and cut and paste is useful. Students could spend as little as 30 minutes per week; those who want to do more might spend up to 3 hours or more, trying various exercises.
Tuition/Fees for this course
SCN members: $160. Non-SCN members: $200.
Instructor Bio
B. Lynn Goodwin is a freelance writer, editor, teacher, former caregiver, and the author of You Want Me To Do What?: Journaling for Caregivers (Tate Publishing).
