Class Title: Life Books

Synopsis
In this gentle and supportive workshop, you will create a cohesive framework for your life's story by utilizing the unique tool of Life Books.
Class Description
This five-week course integrates journal writing and mixed media (photos, collage, etc.) You'll be encouraged to create clarity in your lifestory, gain self-awareness, and tap into your creativity. You will create your own life book and learn journal writing tools for future use. The class will begin with a conference call and work via a Yahoo group for the weekly posting of exercises and responses. The class will wrap up with a conference call. You will need a book to collect and organize your material; a three-ring binder works well for this.

- Unit 1: Introduction and Building a Framework
- Unit 2: Life Chapters
- Unit 3: Painting Stories
- Unit 4: Exploring Patterns
- Unit 5: Wrap-Up and Springboards
Student Skills, Equipment, and Time Required
Students should be able to complete assignments using a word processor. E-mail and participation in Yahoo group are required. Students should plan to commit about two hours per week.
Tuition/Fees for this course
SCN members: $160. Non-SCN members: $200.
Instructor Bio
Dawn Espelage is the author of Life Lines: Celebrate Your Journey. She is a Certified Journal Instructor through The Center of Journal Therapy and has worked in the social work field for 13 years. She has written two journal-writing workbooks, Life Lines: Celebrate Your Journey and Celebrate Your Journey: Monthly Planner and Journal Companion. She has previously taught online for SCN.
